Further reformulation of the model? The need for an ontology

Is this the ultimate way to formulate a terminological model of vehicles? Almost certainly not. Most obviously, the concepts labelled air, road, rail, etc. have been used in a very peculiar way. Almost anything else we might want to say about roads, rails, or air would not be sensibly said about a ValueType as used here.

To go further, we need a larger framework or ontology into which to fit the various notions we come across. (Ontology is a posh word misappropriated from philosophy. In philosophy it means the study of meaning. In computing, it means the high level structure of a terminological model.)

There is a separate tutorial on the GALEN ontology for medical terminology which explains how it is organised. However, this is sufficient for now.
